1. The Diagnosis

discussion
ReadEphesians 2:8-9
Have you ever felt that while your salvation is secure, your daily 'fellowship' or 'standing' with God depends on how well you keep 'short accounts' with Him? How does this make you feel — anxious, secure, tired?
The 'quiet works-mixture' is the belief that forgiveness is granted at conversion but maintained by ongoing confession. It treats salvation as grace but daily fellowship as works.

2. The Finished Work

scripture
ReadHebrews 10:10-14, 17-18
How many times does the author use the word 'once' or 'single'? What is the tense of the verb 'perfected' in verse 14?
If Christ's sacrifice 'perfected for all time those who are being sanctified,' what does that mean for the sins you will commit tomorrow?
ReadColossians 2:13-14
What happened to the 'record of debt'? Where is it now? If the record of debt has been erased and nailed to the cross, what exactly are we asking God to do when we confess a sin and ask for forgiveness?

3. Application

application
How would your prayer life change if you truly believed the ledger was empty before you even started praying? Spend a few minutes in silent reflection, then share with your group.

"One saving baptism. One saving forgiveness. One righteous standing. And from that ground, a lifetime of honest, unfearful walking in the light."
